deployment

BEDFORD, Mass. - May 4, 2011 - EnterpriseDB, the leading worldwide provider of PostgreSQL products and services, today joined the Red Hat OpenShift Partner Program by offering its Postgres Plus Advanced Server as a database service in the cloud. Red Hat OpenShift is a Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering for developers who build on open source.

Red Hat OpenShift, combined with EnterpriseDB’s Postgres Plus Advanced Server, lets developers build scalable cloud database systems, support popular developer languages and move Oracle applications to the cloud easily and quickly with all of the benefits, stability, innovation and low cost of open source software. Postgres Plus Advanced Server gives Oracle-like features and compatibility without the price tag to let companies run existing Oracle PL/SQL applications against Postgres and develop new PL/SQL routines for new Postgres systems.

“We are pleased that EnterpriseDB has joined forces with the Red Hat team on OpenShift,” said Sarangan Rangachari, senior director, Cloud Ecosystem at Red Hat. “OpenShift is designed to bring a new level of choice to PaaS and including EnterpriseDB as an SQL database in the OpenShift Platform will bring our users a leading database solution for the cloud.”

“EnterpriseDB is proud to be a part of the Red Hat OpenShift platform, and is pleased to provide open source developers with an enterprise-class, Oracle compatible database built and maintained for the cloud,” said Robin Schumacher, director of product strategy at EnterpriseDB. “Red Hat is a trusted brand and our partnership with them will give developers a unique offering and the choice to use EnterpriseDB in the cloud while also giving flexibility of moving Oracle applications to the cloud without the headache of vendor lock-in.”

EnterpriseDB is a sponsor of the Red Hat Summit taking place in Boston, Massachusetts on May 3-6, 2011. The Red Hat Summit and JBoss World are the premier open source events where companies and developers can learn about the latest in open source cloud computing, platform, virtualization, middleware, and management technologies.
