A Day in the Life: The Quarterback of Strategic Success

Josh recently transitioned into a strategic role designed to take some of EDB's largest North American customers on a long-term journey. He describes his mission as being the “quarterback” and maximizing the potential of these high-stakes engagements.

"I can't do the nine to five rinse and repeat," Josh explains."You have an environment here where you're very much trusted at EDB by your management. You get the job done, put the results on the board—how you do it is up to you." For Josh, success is rooted in establishing trust through face-to-face connection. "I'm a relationship seller. Those face-to-face meetings are everything, and EDB very much encourages that. You can accomplish a whole lot when trust is involved."

The Sales Mindset: Grit, Creativity, and “Coin-Operated” Success

Having managed teams for years and trained new hires, Josh knows exactly what it takes to thrive at EDB: a mix of basic fundamentals and an intense “why.”

"I wake up every day saying I want to make life-changing money. I’m coin-operated,” Joshua asserts. “If you have the grit and determination to make a difference in your life, you can absolutely do well here.” He encourages his teammates to be creative, noting that EDB backs his sometimes unconventional ideas: “Josh, as creative as you can get, we’ll back you.” 

Impact Beyond the Deal: Shaping the EDB Blueprint

Josh’s influence extends far beyond his own pipeline. In the past he’s been tapped by finance and product leaders to help shape the company’s future. “Helping to design compensation plans—to be a sales guy and be asked that question by senior leaders in finance is absolutely amazing,” he says. From collaborating on license policies to interviewing non-sales candidates, Josh finds it “very humbling, but also invigorating" to have a hand in building the company’s foundation.

"Without a doubt, it's the people. I just feel like we have an abundance of highly talented, highly motivated, high quality people," he notes. “My boss runs North America, and she cares so much that I’m ready to run through a wall for her. Everyone is unifying around the idea of: let’s go build, let’s be successful, and let’s do new and exciting things.”
