Postgres Embedded Subject Matter Expert
Service Overview
Engage EDB to work with your teams on a regular cadence to ensure success with your Postgres projects.
Duration
80 hours, drawn down in minimum 4 hour increments.
Scope of Services
The Services to be performed during the course of the engagement may include the following activities, to be delivered against your EDB-supported Postgres Clusters:
- Health checks and Architecture recommendations
- Tuning advice
- Database upgrade planning, testing and guidance
- Oracle Migration Assessment and Framework
- Other Postgres work to be mutually agreed, excluding routine DBA tasks.
EDB will work with you to identify priority outcomes, establish a regular cadence with the assigned resource, and prioritize and track activity.
This service is advisory in nature; the SME provides guidance and recommendations, while the Customer remains responsible for the primary operation and 24/7 monitoring of production systems.
The resource will deliver a minimum 4 hours for any scheduled activity*. Customer will request the resource from EDB a minimum of 15 business days before the resource is needed for any ad-hoc requests outside of the regular cadence.
*Scheduling Professional Services requires the allocation of specific consulting resources. Cancellations or rescheduling requests received less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled start time will result in the corresponding hours or days to be deducted from the Customer’s purchased Services.
EDB will make reasonable efforts to accommodate rescheduling requests made with sufficient notice
Deliverables
To be agreed and prioritized as part of initial project planning.
Roles and Responsibilities
EDB Project Manager: Responsible for initial planning, cadence and task alignment, and project closeout.
EDB Senior Consultant: Technical Lead, responsible for attendance and availability per the agreed cadence and execution of agreed activities
Customer Team: Responsible for providing the main point of contact for cadence and task execution. Point of Contact will work jointly with EDB to prioritize outcomes and activities. Resources and Roles (or similar Technical Stakeholders) where input may be needed for the engagement include:
- System Architect
- Database Administrator
- Infrastructure Manager
- Network Administrator
- Application Owner(s)
Assumptions
- A project kickoff will be conducted to review project schedule and better understand capacity planning for the Subject Matter Expert
- Customer and EDB will agree upon Project governance reporting and meeting cadence, including regular cadence with Subject Matter Expert
- This service is delivered remotely unless otherwise agreed
- Customer will provide the names, title, email, phone number, and area of responsibility of those participating. One person will be designated as the main contact, and will be able to provide access to the people most knowledgeable about the topics to be discussed or examined.
- Customer will make appropriate personnel available to assist EDB in the performance of the services as needed and requested by EDB in a timely manner so as not to disrupt the project schedule.
- Customer will not provide Personal Data (as defined in applicable law). Customer agrees that it will work with EnterpriseDB to ensure that all such data is not provided.
- Customer is responsible for providing all necessary internal design and project related documentation where EDB is required to analyze, operate, or modify customer implemented systems.
- Customer will ensure timely access to all systems through screen sharing and experts including third parties as required.
- Customer will assign the appropriate resources with the appropriate privileges for the task being planned for any screen sharing sessions as needed throughout the engagement.
- Cancellations or rescheduling requests received less than 48 hours prior to the scheduled start time will result in the corresponding hours or days to be deducted from the Customer’s purchased Services.
- EDB will make reasonable efforts to accommodate rescheduling requests made with sufficient notice.
- If additional hours are required based on the prioritized work, Customer will purchase additional packages through the EDB Sales Representative.
Prerequisites
- Customer will provide resource availability for cadence planning and a point of contact for coordination and prioritization of outcomes and activities.
- Customer is responsible for providing all necessary internal design and project related documentation and requirements where EDB is required to analyze, operate, or modify customer implemented systems
- Customer to provide all required access/permissions for the resource to be effective in their role.
