“They Kept Giving Me Opportunities to Grow”: Beena Emerson’s 10 Years at EDB
Beena Emerson joined EDB in 2015 as a software engineer in Pune. After a decade and countless projects—from Oracle compatibility work to today’s AI initiatives—she’s now a senior staff SDE 1, engineering manager.

A close-knit culture, even while fully remote
“I still remember when I joined the Pune office 10 years ago—what struck me most was how friendly and close knit everyone was. That supportive nature wasn’t just within teams, it was across teams too. Even after I switched teams, and even now that we’re fully remote, we still share that camaraderie.”
Balance, not a trade-off
“Initiatives like Wellness Fridays help me balance work and personal life, and I have never had to choose between the two. Whenever I’ve needed a break, I can honestly talk to my manager and we work around it.”
Room to keep growing
“My mentors and managers never said, ‘You’ve worked here, just keep doing this.’ They broadened my experience and kept giving me opportunities to grow.”
Engineer and mindfulness coach
“I’m also a certified mindfulness and productivity coach. When I got that certificate, my team members didn’t just say congratulations…. When the entire team met in Pune in 2024, they let me hold a small corporate session. It’s just a hobby, but to have them encourage my interest in that way—it clearly shows the Grow and Evolve mindset. Those kinds of things matter, and they’re what make you stay.”
She’s since turned that passion for coaching into a published book on mindful productivity, written during her time at EDB.
